Has anybody done an experiment of extracting copper metal and sulfate from copper ore?
I require help my science report and i am really lost. The aim of the experiment is "to extract copper sulfate and copper metal from a simulated ore". This experiment does use electrolysis for final step. If anybody has done this experiment please provide me with an example of a full scientific report that i can use to guide me with constructing my own. Thankyou heaps!
I'm sorry I don't have or couldn't find what you're looking for, but I am going to give you my brief assumption of what the two main steps of this procedure are.
1) to oxidize (in order to ionize) the copper in the ore so you have a solution of copper ions along with a bunch of impurities in the ore.
2) In the process of electrolysis, copper ions from the solution will be reduced to solid copper that accumulates on the cathode.
